When it comes to the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, BMW enthusiasts will likely agree that bigger really is better. Drivers of Palo Alto luxury cars are excited that the new and improved 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is the first four-door BMW Gran Coupe. This newest addition to the BMW 6 Series lineup is the perfect combination of luxury, comfort and style.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe will be available in the 640i or 650i model and it is based on the current BMW 6 Series models. But compared to the 6 Series coupe, the Gran Coupe’s wheelbase is increased by 4.5 inches and its body is stretched 4.4 inches in length. These larger dimensions are particularly noticeable in the interior, which has increased headroom and legroom for rear-seat passengers.

The Gran Coupe’s luxurious style is also evident in its interior, which is similar in design to the current 6 Series models. BMW’s iDrive system is displayed on a 10.2 inch LCD screen in the center stack so drivers can conveniently use the audio and navigation system controls. In addition, the Gran Coupe is equipped with the new Driving Experience Control button, which provides the driver with the option of choosing from the Comfort, Sport or ECO Pro driving settings.

Both Gran Coupe models are equipped with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology. The 640i is outfitted with a six-cylinder engine, which pushes 320 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. If drivers of Palo Alto luxury cars are interested in boosting the power, the 650i Gran Coupe has the new eight-cylinder engine with two turbochargers. This mighty eight-cylinder engine boasts 450 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque and sprints the car from zero to 62 miles per hour in a mere 4.5 seconds.

In addition, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe offers drivers with a host of safety features including the blind-spot warning system and BMW parking assist system. Also, the innovative 360-degree top view camera provides drivers with the ability to see surrounding obstacles.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is set to make its first appearance in the U.S. at the New York Auto show in April and both models will likely be available to customers in Summer 2012. While we all await the arrival of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, please stop in to your local San Francisco BMW service center for a tune-up on your ultimate driving machine.

Edmund’s has released the winners of its annual Used Car Best Bet awards for 2011, which evaluates used cars originally sold from 2004 to 2009, based on reliability, safety and availability. Your local Palo Alto luxury cars dealership is thrilled that the BMW 3 Series was chosen as the 2011 winner for the best used coupe car.

Mountain View used 3 series drivers love their sporty 3 Series coupes because the BMW 3 series lineup combines luxury, performance and comfort to create the ultimate vehicle. To celebrate the BMW 3 Series award from Edmunds.com, we have taken a journey back to remember our favorite features on our beloved 3 Series models.

2004 BMW 330Ci

The 330i model’s Performance package featured a five-speed Steptronic automatic transmission Automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers were offered as standard features on the 3 Series lineup in 2004.

2005 BMW 325Ci Convertible

In 2005, the BMW 325Ci convertible came standard with a power retractable roof, which made it much easier for drivers to put the top down on warm summer nights or quickly put the top back up in the event of an unexpected spring shower.

2006 BMW 330Ci

The 2006 BMW 3 Series coupe was very similar to the previous year’s model. Power was always evident in the coupe models and the 330Ci featured a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that was responsible for 225 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque.

2007 BMW 328xi

In 2007, the BMW coupe underwent an impressive makeover, which unveiled a stylish new exterior. The 3 Series coupe was also offered with an option for all-wheel-drive in the 328xi model. Some of the new standard equipment offered in the 328xi model included heated mirrors, automatic climate control and xenon headlamps.

2008 BMW 335xi

The BMW 335xi coupe was introduced as a new all-wheel-drive option in 2008. Safety features have always been a large component in the 3 Series lineup and in 2008 the standard safety equipment included antilock disc brakes, a stability control system and dynamic brake control.

2009 BMW 328i

The 3 Series lineup has also been known for its good fuel economy ratings and the 2009 328i model averaged about 20 to 21 miles per gallon combined city and highway driving.

The BMW 3 Series coupe has been a driver favorite since it was first released and the recent Edmund’s annual awards for Best Used Cars reaffirms the BMW 3 Series coupe’s place in the spotlight. If you are interested in getting behind the wheel of your favorite BMW 3 Series model, we welcome you to drop by your Mountain View used 3 Series dealership to browse our wide selection of used BMW vehicles.

In 2006, Justin Timberlake was bringing “SexyBack,” when he released his hit single that was mega-popular on the radio and in dance clubs across the country. And now, BMW is bringing sexy back with its reintroduction of four-cylinder engines to the United States market this October. The four-cylinder option has not been offered in the United States since 1999, but with new fuel-efficiency regulations and skyrocketing gas prices, BMW has decided to offer the four-cylinder engine in the Z4 roadster and 5-series midsize sedans. Your local Mountain View BMW 3 Series dealership is thrilled that BMW also has future plans to offer its four-cylinder engine in its 3-series lineup, including the sedan, coupe and wagon models.

According to the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration’s website, BMW’s corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) rating for its 2011 models was 29.9 miles per gallon for passenger cars and 25.5 miles per gallon for sport-utility vehicles. The new fuel-efficiency regulations imposed by the government will require manufacturers to comply with the requirements or face hefty fines.

Although inevitably a smaller engine means a little less horsepower, the BMW’s four-cylinder engine still offers the speed of a sports car. For example, the Z4 model, outfitted with a four-cylinder engine, boasts 240 horsepower, increases the torque by 18 percent and the Z4 sprints from zero to 60 miles per hour in a mere 5.5 seconds. Drivers of Palo Alto luxury cars will be excited that the fuel efficiency will most likely improve about 20 percent on the Z4 model with the four-cylinder engine.

In a country where gas prices often reach over $3.50 a gallon, fuel economy has become increasingly important to all consumers. The reintroduction of BMW’s four-cylinder engine option in many of its models provides drivers with the opportunity to purchase a luxurious and powerful BMW car, while still reaping the benefits of a vehicle with good fuel economy ratings.

The four-cylinder models will most likely hit the U.S. dealership showrooms in October 2011, so if you are interested in learning more about the four-cylinder option, please visit your local Palo Alto luxury cars dealership to browse our selection of BMW models and learn more about the four-cylinder engine.

Your BMW dealer is excited to share that BMW plans to release the 640i, 650i coupe and convertible models into the U.S. market in Fall 2011. In fact, the United States will start to receive customer orders by October 1st of this year in the 650i model, while the rest of the world has to patiently wait until mid-October. Although many BMW enthusiasts are excited for the 650i and convertible models, early reports indicate that the 640i model outshines the others in affordability and fuel efficiency.

Drivers of Palo Alto luxury cars can get ready to rev their engines with the introduction of the 640i and convertible models that are equipped with the newest BMW engine, an N55. This six-cylinder engine boasts 316 horsepower and comes with Valvetronic, while an N63 engine powers the 650i coupe. Also, the 640i model sprints from zero to 60 miles per hour in a mere 5.3 seconds and is lighter than the 650i coupe.

On the BMW 640i model, the Driving Dynamics Control includes five different modes: Sport, Sport+, Comfort, Comfort+ and Eco Pro. BMW’s commitment to fuel efficiency is showcased in the 640i model, which is the only 6 Series model that will feature Eco Pro mode. The Eco Pro setting increases the fuel efficiency numbers by almost 20 percent because it uses a low revs zone at all times. This fuel-efficient mode is most practical when driving long distances on the highway.

In addition, the 640i is a great road-trip car with its generous 16.3 cubic feet of space in the interior, which comfortably fits four adults and all the necessities for a weekend at the beach.

Early test drive reports indicate that the 640i model is smooth on the twists and turns because it is equipped with BMW’s Driving Dynamics Control, optional Integral Active Steering and active roll stabilization. The lighter model combined with the steering control makes the 640i perfect for both acceleration on straightaways and smooth turns on the curves.

If you are interested in more information about ordering a BMW 640i model please stop in your local BMW dealer, which is one of the best dealers in the area for Palo Alto luxury cars. Our friendly and helpful staff will be happy to provide more information and details about the new BMW 6 Series models.

Facebook might have started out as Mark Zuckerberg’s small idea, but it has now grown into a social media phenomenon with over 600 million active users. Reports have shown that Facebook users spend multiple hours per month checking their newsfeed, liking their friends statuses, posting photos from last Saturday’s barbeque, Facebook chatting, or liking fan pages from their favorite musicians, television shows and consumer brands. Facebook has dramatically increased in popularity since 2004, when it was first introduced exclusively for college students. Now, it is not uncommon for a person to be “Facebook friends” with his or her dad, mom, or even grandparents.

With Facebook’s increasing presence as a leader in social media, many consumer brands are proactive about developing a Facebook page to promote the brand and to serve as an outlet to interact with the brand’s consumers. Your BMW dealer is excited that a recent L2 “Prestige 100” Facebook report indicates that Facebook users “like” BMW and, according to the report, BMW was rated as the top brand on Facebook. Clinique and Audi rounded out the top three brands on Facebook.

The report, conducted by Buddy Media and L2, ranked different brands using qualitative and quantitative points and criteria such as size and growth, engagement, programming and integration.

With close to six million fans on its Facebook page, BMW uses its page to connect with BMW drivers and share news about BMW vehicles. The report specifically mentions BMW’s “Two Originals” app featured on its Facebook page. The app is part of BMW’s “One Origin, Two Originals” campaign, which set out to find twins who looked similar, but had drastically different personalities. Drivers of Palo Alto luxury cars can also create their own film to share with friends.

BMW drivers, fans and enthusiasts are also encouraged to post messages, photos or videos on the fan page, which illustrates that BMW understands the importance of connecting with consumers and listening to suggestions or comments to improve the BMW brand. Your local BMW dealer suggests any interested Facebook users to “like” BMW’s Facebook page for updated BMW information and to share comments with other BMW drivers about BMW’s wide selection of quality vehicles.

I had a heck of a time tracking down a Nintendo Wii a few years ago. I wasn’t like Eric Cartman in the “South Park” episode where he tries to cryogenically freeze himself for a few weeks to avoid the anxiety of waiting for the game system’s release, but I was pretty excited for video games I could actually play, and I’ll admit I got caught up in the buzz of the whole thing.

The only problem was that when I went to my local electronics store with $250 clenched excitedly in my fists, I was told there weren’t any Wiis left in stock. I let the clerk know that there must be some mistake. I wanted one, and I had the money to pay for it. The end result should have been a brand new Nintendo Wii in the backseat of my car going home with me.

But, as I quickly learned, supply and demand doesn’t always work like that. BMW has experienced something similar in recent months with the upcoming release of its new 5 Series. It has officially sold out in every single market the world over. There are literally not enough 5 Series cars to come close to meeting the demand. In Woodside, luxury cars aren’t made with the same integrity as the BMW 5, and in Palo Alto, luxury cars have had the same problem. That’s why this particular batch of vehicles has been so successful for the German automaker.

It’s amazing, really, when you consider the difference in cost between a Wii and a luxury vehicle like a BMW. In the U.S., Wiis cost right around 250 bones, but the 5 Series will run a consumer just a shade under $45,000. It says a lot about a product when it sells out, but when it sells out at a price higher than many people’s entire annual salary, we’re looking at a whole other level of supply and demand.

Those who pre-ordered their 5 Series should have them by now, and my guess is that they’re perfectly happy with their purchase. If they drive those things anywhere near as much as I virtually bowl and golf with my Wii (I did eventually find one, but the wait was excruciating), then they’ll absolutely get their money’s worth.

The BMW 5 Series, now in its sixth iteration, is responsible for 50% of BMW’s global profits. To put that in perspective, it’s like saying Big Macs create 50% of McDonald’s profits, or sweatshirt sales are responsible for 50% of Abercrombie & Fitch’s profits. That’s a sizable chunk of importance placed on only one facet of a world-famous brand, but rightly so; 80% of drivers who currently own a Beamer 5 Series have owned some sort of BMW before. These folks fall in love with quality and stick with it. I say good for them.

The 2011 BMW 535i is the latest model on the 5 line, and it’s jumping out to some really solid early reviews. It’s a pretty big sedan, but it doesn’t drive like one, and despite a toned-down interior it’s still plenty luxurious and plenty affable on any open road. In Palo Alto, luxury cars don’t get made much better.

Specifically, the 535i has instituted a number of upgrades for this model that make it stand out. For example, the front struts have been replaced with a more efficient double-wishbone situation that lowers the grille and hood for the increased safety of pedestrians. The electric-assist steering also has been fine-tuned to feel more natural, and the Integral Active Steering helps keep speedy turns from getting out of control. Technologically speaking, this Beamer has a lot of good things going for it.

The Sport package can be added for a fairly reasonable $4,500 and includes, among other things, 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, and black chrome window trim for the inside of the vehicle. There’s also Adaptive Drive, Dynamic Damping Control, and Active Roll Stabilization. In short, it’s a Sport package worth investing in.

BMW Woodside expects to sell more than its fair share of this 2011 BMW 535i, and I’d say it’s a safe bet for them to go ahead and order a whole bunch of these suckers. It looks as though pricing could actually start at under $50,000, but we haven’t heard anything definite in that department yet. Still, at that price and that quality it seems like a bit of a steal, doesn’t it?
