BMW now has an app for your iPad and your San Francisco BMW service center hopes customers will link up to Facebook and other media channels to share with friends how much they love their BMWs.

Not only can BMW be shared informally among friends with this app, but the company can use it as a forum for advertising and, well, the sky’s the limit – or cyberspace, anyway. Your BMW Woodside dealer would like to see customers using this application and urges them to download it free at http://itunes.apple.com/app/bmw-x3/id404814453.

One model you can get up to speed on with your new app is the BMW X3. With a roomier back seat and more cargo space, the tailgate will be available with power open and close for extra convenience. Coming standard with iDrive in the U.S., a small central screen will be included, but with the navigation option an 8.8-inch screen comes with the package.

BMW Woodside customers also will appreciate this SUV’s extra leg room and higher ground clearance. With 245/50R18 Pirelli run-flat tires on standard 17-inch wheels, the BMW X3 will not disappoint when it comes to a thrilling ride. The addition of the Sports Package will gain buyers a Dynamic Drive system to interact with transmission response and steering assist.

Tested on Germany’s winding, climbing Bavarian roads, the X3 performed admirably, offering a smooth ride, quick pick-up, subtle shifting and easy steering. Most of all, it was a fun ride – something BMW buyers demand, as well they should.

For true BMW fans, this SUV is very much in line with the company’s tradition and style. In fact, you should probably get on your iPad and share this information as you head down to your San Francisco BMW service dealer to check out the new BMW models. The X3 is in the showroom now and won’t disappoint you.

But if you prefer a more sophisticated ride or want the added thrill of a sports coupe, your dealer will have a model to match your personality and driving preferences.

About half of the world’s population resides in big cities, and in those big cities are millions and millions of automobiles driving around and spewing out noxious emissions that have been proven to be hurting the earth’s atmosphere. How does one solve this sort of problem? By coming up with a vehicle that doesn’t spew out those noxious emissions, and the best way to do that—at least to date—is through the all-electric vehicle, which BMW continues to show increased interest in.

In Woodside, luxury cars have traditionally been of heavy stock, made from steel and sheet metal and containing a gigantic, heavy gas engine in the belly of the vehicle. What BMW is planning, however, is an all-electric car (nicknamed “Project i”) that substitutes carbon fiber for the heavier metals cars are currently made of. By doing both those things, cars will run smoother and easier and healthier for the air, and that’s the aim of every automaker in the industry right now.

BMW Woodside dealers are nothing but excited to get this vehicle on their lots—currently predicted for sometime in 2013—but they weren’t always sure that this dreamy fantasy would ever become a reality. More than one pundit has speculated that many automakers talk about making the greenest of improvements but don’t always really plan on putting the time and money into these dreams to make them happen. BMW has proven that they really intend on following through by coming up with concept sketches, announcing plans to build a carbon-fiber assembly plant in America, and even leaking that there could be a BMW sub-brand released for the sole purpose of producing these electric cars.

EV’s are nothing new, as the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt due out later this year have already proven. But for a luxury vehicle manufacturer like BMW to be joining in the game speaks volumes for where the automotive industry is headed in the next decade. Dependence on foreign oil will be all but forgotten very soon, and instead we’ll be driving around our clean vehicles. For the half of us that live in those big cities, we may even start to see the stars at night. Can you imagine a world where that’s possible? BMW sure can, and they’re bringing that dream to you in only a short number of years.

In a time when many of their competitors are focusing on Internet campaigns, BMW is sticking with a classic radio partnership to get the word out about their luxury cars. Fans of Woodside luxury cars will now be able to get an extra dose of automotive entertainment when they tune into the FoxxHole Channel on Sirius (106) or XM (149) Satellite Radio. BMW announced their partnership with Jamie Foxx’s FoxxHole Satellite Radio Channel this past June.

As the Official Automotive Partner to The FoxxHole, BMW will be presenting a Joy of Comedy showcase, and the company will be integrated into the comedy shows content by live interviews with BMW experts and other on-air mentions. BMW fans may also be able to get in on the action during the 18 city live broadcast tour of Jamie Foxx’s Radio Show. Check to see if your local BMW Woodside dealer is on the schedule.

BMW Woodside dealers note that the scheduled live broadcast tour and Joy of Comedy showcase will tie in nicely to BMW’s recently launched “Expression of Joy” campaign for the Z4 Roadster.

The deal, brokered by Atlanta-based Matlock Advertising and Public Relations, BMW of North America’s African American Agency of Record, has been met with great expectations on both sides. Marcus King, Executive Producer of The FoxxHole stated, “We are pleased to welcome BMW to our family of sponsors… We look forward to working with the company and helping the BMW brand resonate with multicultural consumers through both our media platform and numerous key events.”

Jack Pitney, Vice President, Marketing and Product Strategy, BMW of North America shares King’s excitement, “We are pleased to partner with Jamie Foxx’s FoxxHole Satellite Radio to spread the joy that comedy brings… FoxxHole radio has an influential audience and we look forward to building a relationship with them while sharing our mutual appreciation for great cars. “

The partnership brings a great opportunity for BMW Woodside dealers to work with The FoxxHole program to interact with listeners “where they live, work, and play” to bring them important information regarding their Woodside luxury cars while expanding and diversifying BMW’s consumer base.

Accessorizing used to be a thing only women would do. Speaking as a man, and really only guessing, I’d say that over 60 percent of what women shop for at the mall are accessories—shoes, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. God bless them for all the work and money they put into being beautiful, but you have to understand that a certain amount of that final product is directly correlated to those seemingly negligible bits of a lady’s ensemble. It is, as they say, the little things that count.

In 2010, however, men are starting to catch on the value of accessories, too. I’ve seen gentlemen wear sunglasses, hats, any of a number of piercings, and even things like sweatbands and striped socks. We aren’t necessarily as good at accessorizing as the ladies are, but we certainly do try.

In Woodside, luxury cars are trying, too, and the BMW M3 Coupe is the latest in a long line of gorgeous automobiles to add a handful of fancy-pants accessories to make the vehicle look more appealing. Personally, I never had a problem calling the M3 (or any BMW Woodside dealerships threw at me) gorgeous as it was, but a series of new carbon-fiber add-ons have taken the aesthetics of this automobile to a whole new level.

The new components for the M3 include a front splitter, rear decklid spoiler, and mirror caps. The front splitter and rear spoiler have been added to help provide the car with more downforce (something that would come in handy if you were someone who enjoyed taking your car to the track for some high-octane spins), and the mirror caps are admittedly just for show. But what a beautiful show it is.

You can get all of these accessories on any of the M3 models—coupe, sedan, or convertible—except for the spoiler, which doesn’t come with the drop-top. No pricing has been announced yet for what this kit is going to cost, but if you’re making the investment in a Beamer the least you can do is make sure every inch of the thing is as sexy as it can be. Anything less would be uncivilized. Just ask any woman, and I’m sure she’ll be happy to tell you.

The BMW 5 Series, now in its sixth iteration, is responsible for 50% of BMW’s global profits. To put that in perspective, it’s like saying Big Macs create 50% of McDonald’s profits, or sweatshirt sales are responsible for 50% of Abercrombie & Fitch’s profits. That’s a sizable chunk of importance placed on only one facet of a world-famous brand, but rightly so; 80% of drivers who currently own a Beamer 5 Series have owned some sort of BMW before. These folks fall in love with quality and stick with it. I say good for them.

The 2011 BMW 535i is the latest model on the 5 line, and it’s jumping out to some really solid early reviews. It’s a pretty big sedan, but it doesn’t drive like one, and despite a toned-down interior it’s still plenty luxurious and plenty affable on any open road. In Palo Alto, luxury cars don’t get made much better.

Specifically, the 535i has instituted a number of upgrades for this model that make it stand out. For example, the front struts have been replaced with a more efficient double-wishbone situation that lowers the grille and hood for the increased safety of pedestrians. The electric-assist steering also has been fine-tuned to feel more natural, and the Integral Active Steering helps keep speedy turns from getting out of control. Technologically speaking, this Beamer has a lot of good things going for it.

The Sport package can be added for a fairly reasonable $4,500 and includes, among other things, 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, and black chrome window trim for the inside of the vehicle. There’s also Adaptive Drive, Dynamic Damping Control, and Active Roll Stabilization. In short, it’s a Sport package worth investing in.

BMW Woodside expects to sell more than its fair share of this 2011 BMW 535i, and I’d say it’s a safe bet for them to go ahead and order a whole bunch of these suckers. It looks as though pricing could actually start at under $50,000, but we haven’t heard anything definite in that department yet. Still, at that price and that quality it seems like a bit of a steal, doesn’t it?
