BMW is set to have another really exciting model year, and we at your Stevens Creek BMW dealer would like to share our excitement with you. First, there is the new X1, a new CUV that will give our customers a compact CUV option. The X1 should come to our lot with an inline six that will really get it moving. Expect to see this in about 10 months in our showroom. We can’t wait!

The 2011 model year also brings us the 335is. This version of the 335 offers a big upgrade in performance. Not only does it feature a more powerful engine, but it comes standard with the M-suspension package. This will be a sedan made for serious driving enthusiasts. What’s really great about this model is that you can check it out right now at our dealership.

The 5-Series Sedan we bring you in 2011 model year comes with a touch of new styling wrapping around its front end and is outfitted with 3.0-liter inline six or a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. The 2011 5-Series is on sale now, so stop by our BMW Woodside dealership today for a test drive.

New to the 2011 7-Series is the inline six. It comes standard with a turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 with 315 hp, which improves its fuel efficiency. The 500-hp Alpina B7 will be arriving in early 2011 for those that need maximum power, but the 740i and 740Li are on sale right now at our dealership!

One of the most interesting models for us in 2011 is the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. This car actually comes with a twin-tubrocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine plus and electric motor that work to give 455 hp. For a car its size, 20 mpg at premium performace is quite a feat.

Whatever your tastes, the 2011 lineup is improved and ready to provide luxury and value to you. Come visit Peter Pan BMW to find out more.

With BMW, luxury and value have always gone hand in hand. So it’s no surprise that MSN has named a BMW model as a Top Value Pick on its annual list of vehicles that give consumers the best bang for their buck. Your Stevens Creek BMW dealer, Peter Pan BMW, knows the value that comes with owning the world’s best-made luxury car, and we’re happy to see the BMW 3-Series get the recognition it deserves as a lot of luxury for its price. Make no mistake, the 3-Series is not priced for everyone, and the fact that it’s considered a value should tell you just how good this sport sedan is.

Calling the 3-Series “thoroughly engaging to drive,” MSN says the popular BMW sedan/coupe “offers crisp handling, communicative steering, powerful engines and an amazingly supple ride.”

When it comes to models from BMW, Woodside shoppers have always trended toward the 3-Series.

About half of the world’s population resides in big cities, and in those big cities are millions and millions of automobiles driving around and spewing out noxious emissions that have been proven to be hurting the earth’s atmosphere. How does one solve this sort of problem? By coming up with a vehicle that doesn’t spew out those noxious emissions, and the best way to do that—at least to date—is through the all-electric vehicle, which BMW continues to show increased interest in.

In Woodside, luxury cars have traditionally been of heavy stock, made from steel and sheet metal and containing a gigantic, heavy gas engine in the belly of the vehicle. What BMW is planning, however, is an all-electric car (nicknamed “Project i”) that substitutes carbon fiber for the heavier metals cars are currently made of. By doing both those things, cars will run smoother and easier and healthier for the air, and that’s the aim of every automaker in the industry right now.

BMW Woodside dealers are nothing but excited to get this vehicle on their lots—currently predicted for sometime in 2013—but they weren’t always sure that this dreamy fantasy would ever become a reality. More than one pundit has speculated that many automakers talk about making the greenest of improvements but don’t always really plan on putting the time and money into these dreams to make them happen. BMW has proven that they really intend on following through by coming up with concept sketches, announcing plans to build a carbon-fiber assembly plant in America, and even leaking that there could be a BMW sub-brand released for the sole purpose of producing these electric cars.

EV’s are nothing new, as the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt due out later this year have already proven. But for a luxury vehicle manufacturer like BMW to be joining in the game speaks volumes for where the automotive industry is headed in the next decade. Dependence on foreign oil will be all but forgotten very soon, and instead we’ll be driving around our clean vehicles. For the half of us that live in those big cities, we may even start to see the stars at night. Can you imagine a world where that’s possible? BMW sure can, and they’re bringing that dream to you in only a short number of years.

A buddy of mine bought a new SUV a few years ago from a Mountain View luxury cars dealership and brought it over to my place immediately afterwards to show it off. One of the things he was most excited about—in fact, the whole country was excited about this a few years ago—was the GPS located firmly in his dash. We sat in his driveway and fiddled with those gadgets for a half an hour, awestruck over awesome it was.

Then we tried taking it for a spin and found that the GPS didn’t want to work anymore. It took us forever to figure out that you couldn’t operate it while the car was out of park for safety reasons. Forget that the passenger could’ve done the button-pushing; this car wanted you to set up everything in your driveway before you even put the car in drive.

That got a little annoying, obviously, but much has changed in the way of GPS technology in the last few years, as any Stevens Creek BMW dealer will tell you. Now, Google Maps is the head honcho in such an industry, and their way of making GPS safe to use while driving is not to lock it up, but to allow the driver to use voice commands to get things going.

Another option is setting up the whole trip ahead of time, although doing so in the driveway on a hot summer afternoon isn’t what I mean. Through Google’s website, you can plan away on your laptop while in bed or watching TV and then send the route to your car. Many BMWs (and several other cars, for that matter) now have internet access in the vehicle, making such a thing a reality. In fact, there are all sorts of apps you can download for your car’s dash, not just GPS related ones.

And since it’s hooked up to the net, there’s no need for those update CDs that now are clearly a thing of the past. You literally just hop in your car and drive, letting Google Maps figure out the best way to get there while you physically operate the steering wheel. It’s a pretty sweet deal, actually. I’ll be excited to see how it works the next time that buddy of mine buys a new car.

In a time when many of their competitors are focusing on Internet campaigns, BMW is sticking with a classic radio partnership to get the word out about their luxury cars. Fans of Woodside luxury cars will now be able to get an extra dose of automotive entertainment when they tune into the FoxxHole Channel on Sirius (106) or XM (149) Satellite Radio. BMW announced their partnership with Jamie Foxx’s FoxxHole Satellite Radio Channel this past June.

As the Official Automotive Partner to The FoxxHole, BMW will be presenting a Joy of Comedy showcase, and the company will be integrated into the comedy shows content by live interviews with BMW experts and other on-air mentions. BMW fans may also be able to get in on the action during the 18 city live broadcast tour of Jamie Foxx’s Radio Show. Check to see if your local BMW Woodside dealer is on the schedule.

BMW Woodside dealers note that the scheduled live broadcast tour and Joy of Comedy showcase will tie in nicely to BMW’s recently launched “Expression of Joy” campaign for the Z4 Roadster.

The deal, brokered by Atlanta-based Matlock Advertising and Public Relations, BMW of North America’s African American Agency of Record, has been met with great expectations on both sides. Marcus King, Executive Producer of The FoxxHole stated, “We are pleased to welcome BMW to our family of sponsors… We look forward to working with the company and helping the BMW brand resonate with multicultural consumers through both our media platform and numerous key events.”

Jack Pitney, Vice President, Marketing and Product Strategy, BMW of North America shares King’s excitement, “We are pleased to partner with Jamie Foxx’s FoxxHole Satellite Radio to spread the joy that comedy brings… FoxxHole radio has an influential audience and we look forward to building a relationship with them while sharing our mutual appreciation for great cars. “

The partnership brings a great opportunity for BMW Woodside dealers to work with The FoxxHole program to interact with listeners “where they live, work, and play” to bring them important information regarding their Woodside luxury cars while expanding and diversifying BMW’s consumer base.

I had a heck of a time tracking down a Nintendo Wii a few years ago. I wasn’t like Eric Cartman in the “South Park” episode where he tries to cryogenically freeze himself for a few weeks to avoid the anxiety of waiting for the game system’s release, but I was pretty excited for video games I could actually play, and I’ll admit I got caught up in the buzz of the whole thing.

The only problem was that when I went to my local electronics store with $250 clenched excitedly in my fists, I was told there weren’t any Wiis left in stock. I let the clerk know that there must be some mistake. I wanted one, and I had the money to pay for it. The end result should have been a brand new Nintendo Wii in the backseat of my car going home with me.

But, as I quickly learned, supply and demand doesn’t always work like that. BMW has experienced something similar in recent months with the upcoming release of its new 5 Series. It has officially sold out in every single market the world over. There are literally not enough 5 Series cars to come close to meeting the demand. In Woodside, luxury cars aren’t made with the same integrity as the BMW 5, and in Palo Alto, luxury cars have had the same problem. That’s why this particular batch of vehicles has been so successful for the German automaker.

It’s amazing, really, when you consider the difference in cost between a Wii and a luxury vehicle like a BMW. In the U.S., Wiis cost right around 250 bones, but the 5 Series will run a consumer just a shade under $45,000. It says a lot about a product when it sells out, but when it sells out at a price higher than many people’s entire annual salary, we’re looking at a whole other level of supply and demand.

Those who pre-ordered their 5 Series should have them by now, and my guess is that they’re perfectly happy with their purchase. If they drive those things anywhere near as much as I virtually bowl and golf with my Wii (I did eventually find one, but the wait was excruciating), then they’ll absolutely get their money’s worth.

Accessorizing used to be a thing only women would do. Speaking as a man, and really only guessing, I’d say that over 60 percent of what women shop for at the mall are accessories—shoes, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. God bless them for all the work and money they put into being beautiful, but you have to understand that a certain amount of that final product is directly correlated to those seemingly negligible bits of a lady’s ensemble. It is, as they say, the little things that count.

In 2010, however, men are starting to catch on the value of accessories, too. I’ve seen gentlemen wear sunglasses, hats, any of a number of piercings, and even things like sweatbands and striped socks. We aren’t necessarily as good at accessorizing as the ladies are, but we certainly do try.

In Woodside, luxury cars are trying, too, and the BMW M3 Coupe is the latest in a long line of gorgeous automobiles to add a handful of fancy-pants accessories to make the vehicle look more appealing. Personally, I never had a problem calling the M3 (or any BMW Woodside dealerships threw at me) gorgeous as it was, but a series of new carbon-fiber add-ons have taken the aesthetics of this automobile to a whole new level.

The new components for the M3 include a front splitter, rear decklid spoiler, and mirror caps. The front splitter and rear spoiler have been added to help provide the car with more downforce (something that would come in handy if you were someone who enjoyed taking your car to the track for some high-octane spins), and the mirror caps are admittedly just for show. But what a beautiful show it is.

You can get all of these accessories on any of the M3 models—coupe, sedan, or convertible—except for the spoiler, which doesn’t come with the drop-top. No pricing has been announced yet for what this kit is going to cost, but if you’re making the investment in a Beamer the least you can do is make sure every inch of the thing is as sexy as it can be. Anything less would be uncivilized. Just ask any woman, and I’m sure she’ll be happy to tell you.

The BMW 5 Series, now in its sixth iteration, is responsible for 50% of BMW’s global profits. To put that in perspective, it’s like saying Big Macs create 50% of McDonald’s profits, or sweatshirt sales are responsible for 50% of Abercrombie & Fitch’s profits. That’s a sizable chunk of importance placed on only one facet of a world-famous brand, but rightly so; 80% of drivers who currently own a Beamer 5 Series have owned some sort of BMW before. These folks fall in love with quality and stick with it. I say good for them.

The 2011 BMW 535i is the latest model on the 5 line, and it’s jumping out to some really solid early reviews. It’s a pretty big sedan, but it doesn’t drive like one, and despite a toned-down interior it’s still plenty luxurious and plenty affable on any open road. In Palo Alto, luxury cars don’t get made much better.

Specifically, the 535i has instituted a number of upgrades for this model that make it stand out. For example, the front struts have been replaced with a more efficient double-wishbone situation that lowers the grille and hood for the increased safety of pedestrians. The electric-assist steering also has been fine-tuned to feel more natural, and the Integral Active Steering helps keep speedy turns from getting out of control. Technologically speaking, this Beamer has a lot of good things going for it.

The Sport package can be added for a fairly reasonable $4,500 and includes, among other things, 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, and black chrome window trim for the inside of the vehicle. There’s also Adaptive Drive, Dynamic Damping Control, and Active Roll Stabilization. In short, it’s a Sport package worth investing in.

BMW Woodside expects to sell more than its fair share of this 2011 BMW 535i, and I’d say it’s a safe bet for them to go ahead and order a whole bunch of these suckers. It looks as though pricing could actually start at under $50,000, but we haven’t heard anything definite in that department yet. Still, at that price and that quality it seems like a bit of a steal, doesn’t it?

BMW will be aiding in the development of the Merkel administration’s national platform for e-mobility. The initiative is composed of seven groups working on “concrete proposals designed to establish Germany’s long-term leadership in the realm of electromobility.” Other participants in Frau Merkel’s initiative include Daimler, Volkswagen, and Audi, as well as several energy and battery-technology providers.

BMW’s board member in charge of development, Klaus Draeger, will be co-chairing the “basic conditions” working group. Draeger’s co-chair in the “basic conditions” group is Lars-Hendrick Roller of the European School of Management and technology. The six other groups are responsible for powertrain, battery technology, charging infrastructure, standardization, materials and qualifications.

There is potential for this project to lead to a massive gain in electromobility technology, an exciting prospect for dealers of Belmont luxury cars. Consumers at BMW dealerships Belmont location shouldn’t expect to see the trickle down effect of this initiative for a while, especially since a tight German government budget has caused funding issues and slowed project commencement.

Automakers had initial hopes of receiving government funding to jumpstart the technology development, but quickly it quickly became apparent that these hopes would not be realized. Instead, the CO2 fleet average will be distorted by counting E-cars multiple times- not quite as handy as cash, but an incentive none the less.

According to their press release, BMW intends to contribute knowledge gleaned from years of working in the electromobility arena as well as real-world usage information gleaned from the worldwide Mini E program and that of the 1-series–based ActiveE due next year. BMW’s Mini E fleet is currently driven by a hand-picked group of drivers who are in constant communication with the carmaker and so far the feedback has been largely positive.

While some dealers of Belmont luxury cars question whether BMW’s participation in this initiative designed to bring Germany to the forefront of the e-mobility field means that the company will withhold knowledge or technology from their stateside branches for the sake of gaining competitive advantage. However, BMW dealership Belmont consumers can take comfort in the announcement by BMW spokesman Tobias Hahn that “there is no binding agreement for exclusivity with the German government… [and] We are principally focusing on a policy of freely sharing our experiences.”

I’d never paid for a cell phone in my entire life before this month, when I bought an Android-powered phone through my service provider. I had always just gotten whatever phone came free with a two-year contract, and I distinctly remember avoiding phones with cameras and MP3 players in them because, you know, I really just wanted a phone, not some sort of technological Swiss Army knife.

But the Droid was too sweet to pass up, so I splurged and haven’t regretted it in the month or so since making the purchase. This little handheld device does darn near anything, from running GPS directions for driving and walking and public transportation, to browsing the internet, playing music, streaming video, counting calories, identifying constellations, analyzing art, and even making phone calls. It’s the single best piece of technology ever invented, in my humble opinion. There’s nothing you could do to make it better.

Unless…

Unless you could drive it. That’s what Belmont BMW dealerships are holding their breath for, at least, and in a recent press release from Nokia, it looks as though BMW and a few partner automakers will try and get a system to integrate these high-tech cell phones into the workings of the car.

A BMW dealership in Belmont could, for example, potentially sell you an automobile that syncs up to the phone and runs all those apps for you. It could play your music, run the GPS application, and even come up with apps of its own that keep tabs on the inner workings of the vehicle. People spend so much time in their cars nowadays; something like this would only make the experience easier and more enjoyable. If I think I love my phone now, just wait until it becomes part of my car!

And that’s the beauty of technology. You don’t think you need anything more than a simple phone or a simple car, but when you start surrounding yourself with the possibilities that these brilliant engineers are coming up with, it’s hard to remember what life was like without them. To think, I didn’t want a phone that had a camera. They don’t even make those anymore, do they? In time, there won’t be cars without apps. And we’ll remember that BMW was right there for the start of the new trend.
