2011 BMW Alpina B7 turned heads at the Chicago Auto Show

For San Carols 7 Series drivers, there is very luxurious news. The 2011 BMW Alpina B7 is back and it’s better than ever.  The car, which has been MIA since 2009, made its grand return. The car’s design is sleek and unquestionably elegant while still possessing functional purpose.  In addition, the engine is big, really big.  With the return of the Alpina long overdue, don’t expect these little lookers to stay on the lot long this spring.

Lets get the most important stats out of the way first: the Alpina boasts a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.  This translates to a stunning, off the line acceleration of zero to 60 in a rapid 4.5 seconds.  The engine is partnered with a six-speed sport automatic transmission with Alpina SWITCH-TRONIC transmission control for your sport and manual driving preferences.  The front spoiler increases the car’s downforce by more than 30%, while the back spoiler adds on an additional 15%.  In addition, the front spoiler aids in cooling the new transmission and oil coolers.  The wheels are eye-catching as well, thanks to a 20-spoke, 21-inch specific Alpina design, and the two polished double-tailpipes between the rear wheels scream speed.  Finally, the Alpina B7 comes in all the standard 7 Series colors, or my personal preference, the cool Alpina metallic blue.

Inside, the Alpina continues to impress.  The dashboard, door panels, center console, and most importantly, the seats, are covered with “Lavalina” hand-stitched leather with custom Alpina badges.  The steering wheel contains Switchtronic technology, and is also heated, for just a little something extra.  The rear seats are heated as well, while the front passengers receive the ultimate pampering experience with both heating and cooling features.

San Carlos 7 Series dealer Peter Pan BMW hopes to have the Alpina B7 on site sometime this spring.  The car will be sold for a pricey $122,875 – $126,775, but when all amenities are considered, the cost starts to seem like quite a deal.  Visit your San Carlos BMW dealer to reserve a test drive today!
